November 12th, 2008

It was 11:13pm on December 12, 1997 when a call to police began.
[Dispatch: 911. What’s your emergency?
Caller: “Yes, I’m at the IHOP on Western and there’s going to be a major fight across the street and we need a couple of units here…ASAP.
Dispatch: What do you mean, how do you know there’s going to be a major fight?
Caller: There are people out there. My manager just told me to call.
Dispatch: Ok. Uh, now are they in the, uh Western Plaza lot
Caller: Ya, they’re in, there in our parking lot or across the street. Both of our managers are outside at this moment.
Dispatch: How many people?
Caller: Um, (asking another person) bill, can you tell how many people are out there?
(Waits for answer)
There’s about 10 or 15.]
Some callers to the police that night estimated up to 40 people involved in the fight.
The 911 call above was the beginning of a tragic night for one boy. His name was Brian Deneke of Amarillo Texas. The fight was provoked by a bully team of high school football players called the Tascosa Rebels. Their target was Brian and his friends. It was Jocks (or preps) against punks that night and neither group would back down. Tensions had built up from many unpleasant encounters from the bullying football team.
The football team was known for picking on anyone that was not in their group.

Dustin Camp was just 17 years old when he wittingly ran over Brian Deneke with his Cadillac. What was Dustin’s punishment for killing someone in cold blood?
Jeff Blackburn represented the Brian Deneke’s family. Attorney Jeff Blackburn should have charged Dustin with a hate crime, which would have been a stiffer penalty for Dustin.
Dustin Camp was represented by Warren Clark. He successfully got Dustin out of the hot water. I bet Warren Clark must be real proud of himself getting a murderer out of trouble!
Dustin was charged with manslaughter. He was arrested and released December 13th from the Potter County Detention Center after posting a $100,000 bond. Dustin got off with no time served and a small fine that was later suspended. He also received 10 years of probation, and placed in a long term EPA (alternative education program) for the rest of the year. It is a program for juveniles that continue to cause trouble for others.
2 years later Dustin was arrested for violation of his probation. He was intoxicated and that violated his probation. Dustin fled from police like a coward but did not get away. He ended up serving 8 years in prison for probation violation and fleeing from police.
Where is this cold-blooded murderer today? He has not paid for his crime nor has any remorse for what he did 11 years ago.
People from both sides said that both boys were “non-violent” and “wouldn’t hurt a fly.”
Everyone that knew Brian only had something good to say about him. Although his couture was punk, he was by no means an outcast. Brian had big dreams and goals of helping other people. He was a philanthropist that wanted to start a soup kitchen for the homeless. Sadly, those dreams were shattered by one man’s arrogance and callousness.
How I remember Brian.
I remember going camping with Brian and collecting tad poles. I was probably just 10 years old when I had the opportunity to spend time with my cousin Brian. I remember one Christmas when we played pool and ping pong in my grandma’s basement in Kansas.
April 1997 was the last time I got to see Brian. He met my 1 year old baby girl, Erica and just 8 months later, Brian was killed.
His personality earned him the nickname “sunshine.” He was artistically gifted, and goal-oriented. One of his Brians friends said “we were trying to get an all-ages place, no alcohol, no weapons-a safe place for some people to come check out music and art.”
I was sitting in my living room getting ready for work when my dad called me and told me that he had some good news and bad news for me. I don’t remember the good news, but the bad news was that Brian had been killed. I couldn’t move, and I felt paralyzed. I couldn’t believe Brian was gone.
Yet, one must wonder, how could Dustin have the propensity to hit the gas pedal and run over my cousin Brian?
Then, put the car in reverse, and run over him again? His comment while having his fun was “I’m a Ninja in my caddy; I bet he liked that one!” So back to my question, how could a 17 year old have fun while killing another kid? I’m looking for any kind words or understanding from you. I thank you in advance for your time.

Julie Bieker

Like many Americans I’ve had my good days and bad days. I know when you’re upset and have had a very bad day you feel like beating on something. A punching bag or a jog through the park may be what you need to vent your frustrations.
But when I hear the story about a Kim 19, and Royce 24, I immediately forgot about any “problems” I had. As anyone who has followed the story of “baby grace” knows, nothing can make your blood boil worse than hearing about a couple that beats their beautiful little girl to death.

Royce Clyde Zeigler and Kimberly Dawn Trenor are now behind bars for administering “corporal punishment” to their daughter Riley. The 2 year old girl (known as “baby grace”) by the name Riley Ann Sawyers was beaten by Kim and Royce because they didn’t think she was being polite and insisted on teaching her to say “thank you” and “please.”

They spent all their time on the internet and were ill prepared to be parents. Kimberly had Riley when she was only 16, and left the childs biological father to wed Royce when she was 19, and Royce was 24.
When Riley was found she was termed “Baby Grace” until her identity was known.
Trenor’s boyfriend, Royce Ziegler, has also been charged with murder and will have a separate trial.
The case made national headlines in October 2007 when a fisherman found Riley’s body in a storage tub that washed up on the shore of an island in Galveston Bay. The child had been beaten, suffocated and drowned. At one point Kimberly described how Royce picked Riley up by the hair, and through her across the room causing her head to hit the hard floor.
After giving her pain medication they continued to beat her with leather belts and hold her head under water until she drowned. They went to Wal-mart, purchased bags and stuffed little Riley in a container and for months, police searched for the identification of “Baby Grace” using a composite sketch. She was finally identified by relatives of Riley’s biological father.
Trenor was 3 months pregnant when Riley died. She gave birth to a boy in July. The baby was released to Kims relatives by Child Protective Services.
Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty against either Kimberly or Royce. But whatever happens, all I want is to see is both these monsters locked up until they die of old age. If you suspect child abuse, you should report it. It may prevent something like this from happening.
Your thoughts are welcome here. When these people were not on the internet, they were administering “corporal punishment” to their daughter as they described it. But it is abuse, it is evil, and it is murder. They are now sitting in a Texas prison, where they belong. Kimberly Trenor’s claim that Royce was the instigator, all the while minimizing her role in the beatings, said she now regrets what she has done.

What do you think? Do you think she only regrets getting caught?
What about when her baby girl was being beaten why did she not regret it then and stop what was happening? Also, what do you think should happen to this couple as far as justice? All thoughts are welcome.

Can anyone get away with murder these days?
Think about this, with all the advances in technology and forensics it can’t be possible right?
I love watching crime stories on tv, cold cases, and America’s Most Wanted. With all the new science of forensics you would naturally think that anyone comitting homicide will be caught. With all the acts of violence that occurs in the United States (approximately 1.4 million) you would think that practically nobody would be able to get away with murder.
However, according to the FBI in one year alone (2004) only 62.2% of homicides were “cleared.”
For example if there were 16,000 murders that occurred in a year and approximately 60% of them were “cleared” or
solved, then that leaves roughly 6,000 people that literally got away with
murder. (assuming 1 killer killed one person)
If these ballpark figures were true in the U.S. then we can estimate that there are at least 40,000 to 48,000 unsolved homicides since 2000. Possibly more but I don’t know for sure.
Well, I decided to do some research and bring you some facts.
So, what do you think? Is it possible that there can be this many unsolved murders in the United States?
Well if you guessed “yes”, you’re right!
Since 1960, there has been approximately 200,000 unsolved
homicides right here in the U.S. According to the statistics, cold cases continue to grow by about 6,000 each year.
But like I said before, this number is roughly, not exact.
When I’m at home watching one of the cold case files, I still have a hard time conceiving such a number!
What’s my point in all this? My point is that despite what
people think, there are many out there that literally do in fact get away with murder.
We welcome your thoughts. Tell us what you think. Is it hard to believe that 200,000
cases since 1960 remain unsolved?

I’m laying here on my bed reading “random” articles and one catches my attention.

“Woman Microwaves Her Baby To Death.” As shocked and horrified as anyone could be, I really can’t wrap my mind around it. Why would anyone, or how could anyone do such an evil thing?
This crime is atrocious. A 28 year old women residing in Cleveland,
Ohio recently got sentenced to life in prison for microwaving her daughter to death.
“we have reason to believe, and we have some forensic evidence
that is consistent with our belief, that a microwave oven was used in this death.” said Ken Betz, a director at the Montgomery County Coroner’s office.
Their was high heat internal injuries and no burn marks were present on the outer extremities of the dead, 1 month old Paris Talley.
This is the first time i’ve ever heard of someone dying of hyperthermia.
Why did China Arnold burn her baby daughter in a microwave? How could anyone do
something like this? The reason is because she had had an argument with her boyfriend.
The fight was over whether he was the biological father.
China Arnold will spent the rest of her life in prison for this heinous crime.
It is not comprehensible, nor fathomable that someone could commit a crime like this.
allthough we see these things in news reports from time to time, we are left trying to understand one thing “why?” I keep up to date with the news, and can only say one thing:
“I never get use to it” It sickens me everytime I read a story like this.
I think the only way to rid the evils of this world is one by one. One by one we must sentence people like China Arnold to death.
No amount of anger could have caused a normal person to commit such a heinous crime.
Please tell me how you feel we can rid this world of evils. I welcome any and all comments. This is a ‘free speech’ blog so please feel free to vent your frustrations about the wickedness and cruelty you see in this world. Write your
thoughts here.

Is someone you know at risk of being lured by someone on the Internet? Perhaps a family member secretly chats with an unknown stranger and you’re wondering what you can do about it?
The best way to confront this problem is having a talk with this person. Many people have gone online and “met” someone and eventually this leads to romance or flirting. In today’s world, sexual predators, pedophiles, and other criminals have easy access to people via the web.
You may not know it. But the stranger you’re chatting with may be able to find out where you live without you even telling them. Every computer has an IP address. This is a number assigned to your computer. The number can be ran through a WHOIS search and the coordinates of your home can be established. If this is not frightening enough, your online “friend” could be anyone posing as a much younger, good-looking guy. In reality, it could be a 40-year old rapist. You just never know.
If your relationship is already bloomed, your “partner” may have an STD and not even care to tell you. In a recent case, 10 people were infected with HIV via online hookups.
The most common means by which sexual predators contact children over the Internet is through chat rooms, instant messages and email. In fact, 89% of sexual solicitations were made in either chat rooms or instant messages and 1 in 5 youth (ages 10-17 years) has been sexually solicited online (JAMA, 2001).
You may be lonely and looking for love or friendship. But even Google.com has called the internet a “cesspool.” If you feel you want an online relationship anyway, consider taking a partner along or make it a group setting where it is safe.
PREDATORS
Just read some of these statistics I found at enough.com
Currently, there are over 600,000 Registered Sex Offenders in the United States; an estimated 150,000 have been lost in the system (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, 2006).
The predominant sex crime scenario doesn’t involve violence or stranger molesters posing online as children; only 5 percent of offenders concealed the fact they were adults from their victims. Almost 80 percent of offenders were explicit about their intentions with youth. In 73 percent of crimes, youth go to meet the offender on multiple occasions for multiple sexual encounters (NJOV Study, 2007).
Teens are willing to meet with strangers: 16 percent of teens considered meeting someone they’ve only talked to online and 8 percent have actually met someone they only knew online (Online Victimization of Youth: Five Years Later. 2006).
4% of all youth Internet users received aggressive sexual solicitations, which threatened to spill over into “real life”. These solicitors asked to meet the youth in person, called them on the telephone, or sent offline mail, money, or gifts. Also 4 percent of youth Internet users had distressing sexual solicitations that left them feeling upset of extremely afraid (Online Victimization of Youth: Five Years Later, 2006).
If the affair has blossomed and you want to go further, make sure your partner has been tested for STD’s. Have a background check done on them. This may sound extreme, but you can never be too safe.

The following article was the topic of many discussions among fellow martial artists. It presented us with a tough question. “how can you defend yourself if the following happened to you?” [read the article below]
WINNIPEG, Manitoba - A passenger sleeping on a Greyhound bus was killed and decapitated by his seatmate on Wednesday night as the vehicle rolled across the Canadian prairies, witnesses said.
“All of a sudden, we all heard this scream, this bloodcurdling scream,” said Garnet Caton, who was sitting just in front of the victim, in an interview with CBC Television.
“The attacker was standing up right over top of the guy with a large hunting knife — a survival, Rambo knife — holding the guy and continually stabbing him, stabbing him, stabbing him in the chest area,” Caton said.
The attack continued as other passengers fled the bus and waited for police on a desolated stretch of the TransCanada Highway near Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, said Caton, who helped bar the bus door to prevent the
attacker from leaving.
‘No rage in him’
“He calmly walks up to the front (of the bus) with the head in his hand
and the knife and just calmly stares at us and drops the head right in
front of us,” Caton said.
“There was no rage in him … It was just like he was a robot or
something,” Caton said.
Caton said the victim was stabbed up to 50 times. CBC reported the Royal Canadian Mounted Police took the attacker into
custody.
Authorities declined to provide other details of what they described as a
“major incident.”
—————————-
Now when I entered a Martial Arts forum and discussed with others how to defend yourself against this form of attack there seemed to be a lot of silence. Being how grizzly this attack is, it’s no wonder.
Some members in the forum said, “you must pack a gun” I agree with having a gun, knowing how to use it, and use it if necessary. But “you must pack a gun” does NOT solve the problem if you’re in a deep sleep in public and
suddenly someone begins to stab you and saw your head off.
Another member said you “must train for situations that are hostile” I agree with that too, but still it does NOT solve the problem.
The only advice in the forum I saw that had any merit was the member that said “you cannot put yourself in that situation. Think about it, ANYTHING can happen to you if you fall asleep in public. It doesn’t matter if the crime rate is high or low and it’s in the middle of the day.”
Now this man, I totally agreed with him. Sadly we live in a world where you cannot (or should not) leave your windows unlocked, your doors unlocked, and in this case, fall asleep in public.
Even if you’re exhausted from work, and dead tired, I know it sucks but stay awake! The only exceptions I can think of is if you’re on the beach
sun bathing.
And if I were on the train that day, yes, I would have emptied my clip into him. I would want anyone that attacked me to do the same. Even if I had no chance of survival I would still want someone coming to my aid unlike all the passengers there in Canada. They all ran in terror.
Another member was wondering if in Canada perhaps guns are banned. I looked it up for myself and here’s what I found:
[ By law, a potential customer must be 18 years of age or older to purchase a firearm or legally maintain possession of one. Citizens of Canada under the age of 18 but over the age of 12 may procure a Minor’s Licence which does not allow them to purchase a firearm but allows them to borrow a firearm unsupervised and purchase ammunition.]
But even if you did not want to own a gun, you can still protect yourself with a taser.
Its incapactation rate is equivalent to a 9mm handgun. There is no excuse to NOT defend you or your fellow citizens if something like this happens in your presence.

People ask me why I’m voting for Barack Obama and I will explain it here.
It comes down to this: I am fed up with how the republicans have ran our country like they own it! I was opposed to George Bush and his policies from the beginning and I have been opposed to the war in Iraq as soon as I had learned Saddam had nothing to do with the World Trade Center attack on 9-11.
I am also sick of the division and animosity of the Democrats and Republicans. Listen up everyone, chanting “kill the muslim” in rallies against other Americans is what the enemy wants, so quit it now! Stop hating each other and slinging bigotry and ignorance at eachother. This goes for both parties.
The negative campaigning against Obama has also convinced me to take a deeper look into why people are saying the things they are. I agree (with most Americans) that Obama has been slandered without merit. Most of what I hear in the media sounds more like high schoolers debating in class rather than intelligent discussion amongst adults.
I also know a lot of people are voting for John McCain simply because he’s white. How ignorant those people are. Our country needs change. Everyone has the right to their opinion of course. Also, McCain picked Senator Sarah Palin as his running mate. I believe Senator Palin is a real sweetheart and “people person” however, she’s a true insult on America’s intellect. McCain made a BIG mistake picking Palin.
I agree with Tina Fey when she said “If McCain and Palin win, I’m leaving Earth!” Tina, beam me up if it happens because I won’t be able to live on Earth either.
The bottom line is this, if our country continues George Bush’s policies we are doomed. We need change and we need it now. We cannot afford John McCain to be in office.
I am sick of high gas prices, racism, lies, and politics! Even more, I cannot stand by and do nothing as hard working people lose their homes while wall street “fat cats” and CEO’s live up life like it’s some cheap thrill. It sickens me to death.
I respect your opinion. Unlike other blogs where they won’t post your comment just because you don’t agree with them, I will. I really am interested in your thoughts so long as every other word is NOT the four letter one okay? Speak your voice here.
Sincerely,
An American “Joe”

A recent court case told how employees at a gas station reprogrammed certain pumps so they would only accept cash purchases. If someone paid in cash, they kept the money, getting away with $60,000 before someone rumbled their scheme.
Pocketing cash from a business is one of the most common and oldest types of scams, especially if the bill doesn’t involve opening the register to make change.
I know many years ago when I worked at Wendy’s I heard of people pocketing $5 here, or $20 there right out of the registers. At the end of someone’s shift, the teen typically did not care that their til was shorted. I tell ya, those 16 year old workers can be the death of any business or entrepreneur.
Keeping a sharp eye on your money can be very difficult.
If you are a small business owner or in a situation where you need to watch your money close, here is my advice. Get yourself an electronic eye, otherwise known as a security camera. I know as an entrepreneur you don’t want another expense but trust me, it will save you thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of dollars in the life of the security system.
If you’re real cheap, install dummy cams so your employees think there is a real eye on them. This will dissuade them from stealing from your business.
Don’t be deceived just because an employee is “good” or “honest like”. Just because someone looks honest, acts honest, and has gained your trust doesn’t mean they are infallible to corruption.
Put to rest your anxiety and suspicions by installing security cameras, and tell your employees to “smile” because they are on camera.
Some employees might not like this but that’s usually only if they’ve got something to hide. Anyway, these security measures will protect them as much as they protect you.
Make your business thief proof. After you install the security cameras, go celebrate because you’ve just saved yourself a mountain of money. As an entrepreneur you are hard working and deserve some peace of mind. So take care of your business.
If you have any anti-theft tips or stories you’d like to share with our readers, write them here.
We welcome any and all comments. Good day to you.

Teach your children basic combat moves that can save their life. If your kids are at least 10 years old or more, it is necessary to teach them basic unarmed combat. In this article we cover three tactics of self-defense and unarmed combat that you should master and teach to your children. By doing so, you will instill in them a fighting instinct, and survival mindset.
In this article, we will demonstrate to you:
1. Shots to the eyes
2. Kicks to the groin, or knee to the groin
3. and other tips that can keep you or your kids alive.
Erica walks confidently along a paved path where a stranger approaches on the opposite side. She takes notice immediately that something could happen and therefore, takes her hands out of her pockets, takes a deep breathe, and mentally prepares for what could happen next.

The stranger attempts to attack Erica

Remember, Erica was aware of her surroundings immediately after going into a secluded area. This is smart on her part. Thankfully for her, she saw that a stranger was approaching and knew that this could mean danger. Most victims did not “see” their attack coming because they did not care to look around for anything suspicious. In our example, the attack did occur, but only because Erica was prepared was she able to confront the danger effectively.

Erica’s Attack leaves the perpetrator temporarily blinded
1. Attacks to the Eyes.

This is what the attacker sees just right before he goes down.

Typically violent assaults take place when the perpetrator believes he has picked an easy target. When this perpetrator attacked Erica he thought she was going to be easy but with lightening speed, Erica thrusts her fingers into the attackers eyes.

He goes down on one knee, temporarily blinded, and screaming. This is where Erica takes off running as fast as she can. She does not stay around to see if he is okay, nor does she panic.
2. Knee to the groin
In this case, the attacker shoves Erica into a fence in hopes of strangling her, when he grabs Erica she grabs him back and keeps her hands high so he cannot put his hands around her neck. Immediately she kicks him in the groin.

Erica can also counter his attack by kneeing him in the groin
It almost seems that this defense move is natural for women.
He goes down immediately and once again, Erica runs away.
DO’s to self defense
DO make as much noise as you can. Screaming or yelling “Fire”
Do keep in shape like biking, walking, jogging, and staying healthy are vital to self-defense.
Do use the buddy system. After all, perpetrators are looking for lone people. They want an easy target.
Do carry a fully charged cell phone
Do carry self defense like pepper spray. A good pepper spray baton device can be purchased at http://www.DragonDefenseSupply.com/macebatons.htm These devices can shoot up to five feet and can be used as a blunt force object if your attacker tries to continue to fight with you. They also can be refilled once used.
MORE TIPS:
*Practice, Practice, Practice. It is important to practice the moves you have learned.
“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once,
but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” –Bruce Lee
*Get a mental “snapshot” of your attacker so you can identify him to police later. The faster you do this
the better chances he gets caught and cannot hurt anyone else.
*NEVER EVER blame someone it was not. For example, it has been noted in some cases where a victim blamed
it on a minortiy, either because of racism or assumption. Doing this only hurts your chances of catching the real perpetrator,
causes tax payers dollars to be wasted, and gives the perpetrator an opportunity to come back and “finish the job on you.”
Causes uneccessary grief to innocent people.
Do take a self-defense class at a local Martial Arts class if possible. If you cannot there are at home training programs on self defense. We call them Target Focus Training Striking. You can learn brutal tactics to drop your attacker.
Other tactics are to use your keys as a device to jab into your attackers eyes. If you’re in your home you can use salt, pepper, or even your fingers. But always attack the eyes.
A woman is as deadly, if not deadlier than any man. Erica must fight like a cat and have no mercy if someone chooses to attack her.
Remember, if these first strikes DO NOT work and you wind up on the ground still fighting with your attacker,
DO NOT
Do not panic, remain as calm as possible
Do not try to reason or negotiate with your attacker. For example, “please don’t hurt me” or “please just take my purse” these do not work.
When in a confrontation with an attacker you must be mentally ready, physically ready, and whatever you do, you cannot quit or give in to your attacker. If these first counter strikes do not work, and your attacker takes you captive, you must fight as hard as you can to get away. You cannot hope your attacker will have mercy on you because he won’t.
An easy way to remember all this is by watching the movie The Karate Kid where the sensai instructed his students to “STRIKE HARD, STRIKE FAST, NO MERCY!!!” It’s important that these moves be executed in a brutal fashion.
The term ‘Martial Arts’ literally means the arts of war. So while teaching your kids these moves, help them understand the vital importance of striking hard, striking fast, and having no mercy.

I found an interesting website called www.roadragers.com and
just happened to take their online quiz about weather or not I
am a road rager.
Me? Nah, never.
I can’t be —right? I’ve got to be the safest driver on the
road.

Truth be told, I scored the same as the average driver. About 55% was my score
That’s pretty scary considering one of the questions was
Have you ever followed someone that angered you on the road?
The statistics they’ve complied were:
NEVER 50.83%..
MULTIPLE OCCASIONS 26.39%
ONCE 22.78%
I say these numbers are frightening because your wife, daughter,
or someone you care about has likely been followed at some point
in time because someone was angry enough to try and scare them, or cause them physical harm.
It’s a serious matter because road rage has resulted in the deaths of
many. But lets just keep to How To Avoid This Danger for now.
DRIVING SAFETY
TIPS
–Be a courteous driver, let the road anger go (we all have
stress, frustration)
–Remain calm, instead of giving the finger?
use your head by
recording a license plate and description of the vehicle.
–Avoid driving alone or at night
–Surprisingly a lot of people want to confront the road raged
driver, –DON’t
–Keep all car doors locked and windows closed while in or out
of your car. Set your alarm or use an anti-theft device.
–If you must shop at night, park in well-lighted areas.
–Avoid parking next to vans, trucks with camper shells, or cars
with tinted windows.
–Park as close as you can to your destination and take notice
of where you parked.
–Never leave your car unoccupied with the motor running or with
children inside.
–Do not leave packages or valuables on the seat of your car.
This creates a temptation for thieves. If you must leave
something in the car, lock it in the trunk or put it out of
sight.
So, what about you? Want to take the test at www.RoadRagers.com and find out what your score is? We’d like to know if you care to share with us. Or better yet, have any road rage stories you’d like to vent about? Let us us know. All comments will be posted within 24 hours.
